BE YOURSELF

This week's quote!

"I am convinced that owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing we'll ever do."- Brene Brown

Sometimes it's ridiculously difficult to love yourself when you think you're messing everything up.  Most of the time, it's hard to "own our story."  To really make it your life when everyone is trying to tell you to be someone else is courageous and commendable in itself.

How are you supposed to be yourself and do what you love in a world filled with conformity and poverty?  You want to do a job you love, but you need to make money.  You want to make money,  but you need a specific amount to be considered as worth something in this society.  Does anyone honestly do what they love anymore?

It's so difficult to be the person you feel like you are and the person you "should be" at the same time.  I completely admire people who can get up and say "this is who I am, and it's not who you think I should be, but at least I'm happy with myself." I admire people who can completely, 100% love themselves as people, because they generally seem to have things figured out.  Right now, most of us are too young to have our lives and ourselves figured out, but it would be nice to have some direction at some point.  I'd like to think I'm fairly happy with myself as a person and where I'm going.

The simplicity of this picture itself is interesting to me.  Yet the creator goes against the normal "use 12 pt font, times new roman" and uses something she thinks is creative.  I do as well, and it really adds to the general presentation of the quote.  It's all about being yourself, right? Well this creator was being herself when she chose this funky font, and I love it!

In short, be yourself, it's the most courageous thing you could ever do.

  2. So true! I know I have trouble being who I truly am, because I am scared of what other people will think, but that shouldn't matter. Thanks for giving me some hope this early morning!

  3. So true, I love this quote! I'd never heard it before, but this is so true. I hate how there are things that I don't like about myself, or that I get down on myself and when other people do the same thing. I admire those people that love themselves for who they are. They really are courageous.

  4. Nice look at how the visual representation of the quote plays into its meaning, Wendi.

  5. I love this post and the quote! I have never heard it but its soo true its ridiculous! You have to be yourself to love who you really are and that is hard sometimes in this society now a days but I would like to say that I generally like who I am and I am happy with where I am going. Everyone has those bumps and bruises from life but you just have to keep moving and love yourself even more with each lesson that you learn!
